Here is a map of the Rutgers University's Busch campus. The Fiber Optics building is in cell G3 of the grid; the parking lots allocated for the event are 54, 59 and 68 (you may get a ticket if you park elsewhere without a permit).

Driving

Route 18 North

Whether you come from US Route 1, the NJ Turnpike or the Garden State Parkway, you will hopefully end up on Route 18, going North. Pass the College Avenue Campus of Rutgers University (on your left), cross Raritan River and take the Campus Road exit ramp for the Busch Campus. Follow Campus Rd. until you come to the circle and take the first right off the circle onto Bartholomew Rd. Here you have several options (and the map may help you decide): (i) Make a left on Brett Rd., followed by a right on Bowser Rd. and park in lot #59; (ii) Follow Bartholomew Road around and after passing the Busch Campus Center and Paul Robeson Cultural Center make a left into parking lot # 68; (iii) (spill-over option, if you arrive late) Follow Bartholomew Road all the way to Davidson Rd., make a left, make another left on Bevier Rd., and park in lot # 54.

US Route 1

Turn off at exit marked “Route 18 North-New Brunswick." Follow the instructions above.

Garden State Parkway Southbound

Turn off at Exit 129 for the New Jersey Turnpike and head south. Turn off at Exit 9, bear right after the tollbooths and follow signs for “Route 18 North – New Brunswick.” Stay to the left to continue on Route 18 North. Follow the instructions above.

Garden State Parkway Northbound

Turn off at Exit 105 and follow signs for Route 18 North. After approximately 24 miles, you will pass the entrance for the New Jersey Turnpike. Follow the instructions above.

Interstate 287

Turn off at Exit 9 “Bound Brook/Highland Park." Proceed East on River Road toward Highland Park. Continue on River Road and you will pass under the overpass for Route 18. Make the next left onto Route 18 North. Proceed up Route 18 to the Campus Rd. exit ramp on the right. Follow Campus Rd. until you come to the circle and take the first right off the circle onto Bartholomew Rd. Follow the instructions for Route 18 North (last part).

New Jersey Turnpike

Turn off at Exit 9, bear right after the tollbooths and follow signs for “Route 18 North – New Brunswick.” Follow the instructions above.

Travel Advisory:

The NJ Department of Transportation's (NJDOT) construction activities associated with the Route 18 Reconstruction project have begun in the New Brunswick area. As a result, drivers are likely to experience delays, traffic pattern changes and possible lane and road closures when traveling through the area. By train

From New York, NY or Newark, NJ.

From Penn Station in New York City, or from Penn Station in Newark, or from the Newark International Airport, Ride to New Brunswick on Amtrak or New Jersey Transit. New Jersey Transit costs less and is more frequent.
Taxi services are familiar with University area. Ask for the Student Center, on Busch Campus; the Fiber Optics building (unlikely to be known by taxi drivers is just behind). Cost: ~$10.
Otherwise, two blocks behind station are Campus Bus Services. ("Behind" is a bit confusing; ask a student where to catch a campus bus.)

From Philadelphia:

From 30th Street Station in Philadelphia, use SEPTA train to Trenton, NJ; transfer to NJ Transit and proceed as above. Amtrak is a costlier option.

From Washington, Boston, and points in between::

AMTRAK to Metropark (Iselin) and then NJ Transit to New Brunswick or taxi to Rutgers or hotel

or

AMTRAK to Trenton or Princeton Junction and then NJ Transit to New Brunswick

or

AMTRAK to New Brunswick (very little service)

By bus

From New York City, Port Authority.

Suburban Transit Bus Lines. Call: 732-249-1100.
Buses leave from Port Authority gate #420 every half hour up to 11:00 PM; last bus at 1:00 AM.
Buses arrive at the New Brunswick train station; proceed by taxi or campus bus as above.
From New Brunswick, buses depart on the quarter hour from the railroad station.
